Student Out of State Protocol and Escalation Form

Living in the state of South Carolina (SC) is a requirement for all enrolled students. If at any point a staff member becomes aware that a student is living or temporarily staying out of state, the following protocol must be followed:
When a staff member discovers that a student is no longer residing in SC:
π Complete the Out of State Escalation Form to notify Operations & Administration.
Try to gather the following details:

Date the student left South Carolina
π Expected return date to SC
π§ͺ Is the student scheduled for in-person testing within the next 15 school days?
π£οΈ Details of the communication:
Who shared the information?
Why is the student out of state?
What state is the student currently in or moving to?
π Note: You may still submit the escalation form even if some of this information is unavailable.
π Step 2: Remind the Legal Guardian (LG)
Kindly remind the LG (Legal Guardian) of the policy they agreed to in the Parent/Student Handbook:
π All students enrolled in our school must reside in South Carolina and attend all scheduled in-person testing.

Document your communication by adding a Log Entry in K12 PowerSchool:
