Clearing Cache and Cookies

🧹💻 Clear Your Cache & Cookies to Fix Common Online School Issues

Clearing cache and cookies can resolve many basic issues, such as:

  • Online School continually loads or redirects – “Redirecting…Please wait”

  • Online School navigation between pages is slow

  • Online School pages load but missing information

  • Browser error messages

  • Getting booted out of the OLS or OMHS

  • After a planned maintenance window or unexpected system outage

How to Clear Cache and Cookies

Select the instructions below for your computer operating system and browser type.

Windows (Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox)

Windows
 

Chrome

  1. Click the Menu icon in the top right > select Clear Browsing Data.

  2. In the Time range drop-down, select All time to delete everything.

  3. Check the boxes of the types of information that you want to delete.

  4. Click Clear Data.

  5. Close and re-open your browser to refresh the changes.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Click the Menu icon in the top right > select Settings.

  2. Click Privacy, search, and services.

  3. Scroll to the Clear browsing data section > select Choose what to clear.

  4. In the Time range drop-down, select All time to delete everything.

  5. Check the boxes of the types of information that you want to delete.

  6. Click Clear Now.

  7. Close and re-open your browser to refresh the changes.

Firefox

  1. Click the Menu icon in the top right > select Settings.

  2. Under the Privacy & Security tab > scroll to the Cookies and Site Data section.

  3. Select the Clear Data button. The Clear Data window will appear. Both Cookies and Site Data and Cached Web Content should be checked.

  4. Click the Clear button. 

  5. Close and re-open your browser to refresh the changes.

K12-Provided Computer Shortcut

Use the Computer System Check icon on the desktop to clear browser cache, cookies, and history in all installed browsers with one click. When using this shortcut, close ALL open browser windows before you begin.  
 

  1. Open the Computer System tool located in the lower-right corner of the desktop. 

  2. Click More Tools.

  3. Click the Browser Clear button.

Idea
A keyboard shortcut is also available to clear cache and cookies in all browsers for Windows (i.e. Chrome, Edge, Firefox):
  1. Open the browser of your choice.

  2. Press Ctrl+Shift+Delete to open the Clear browsing data window.

  3. Select your options to delete cache and cookies.

  4. Click the button at the bottom of the window to clear data.



Mac
 

Chrome

  1. Click Chrome > select Clear Browsing Data.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Click Microsoft Edge > select Clear Browsing Data.

  2. In the Time range drop-down, select All time to delete everything.

  3. Check the boxes for:

    • Cookies and other site data

    • Cached images and files

  4. Click Clear Data.

  5. Close and re-open your browser to refresh the changes.

Firefox 

  1. In the Menu bar, click History > select Clear Recent History.

  2. Next to Time range, click the dropdown menu select Everything.

  3. If necessary, expand the Details section > check both Cookies and Cache.

  4. Click Clear Now. Once the progress wheel has stopped spinning, the process is complete.

  5. Close and re-open your browser to refresh the changes.

Safari 

  1. Click on Safari > select Settings.

  2. Under Privacy > select Manage Website Data.

  3. To remove any cached data and cookies, click Remove all.

  4. Wait a few moments and then click Done.

  5. Close and re-open your browser to refresh the changes.

  • Google Chrome is the preferred browser when accessing the Online School and any other K12 application.

  • The browser can be set to automatically clear cache after closing the browser windowSee Set Browser to Clear Cache When Closing for complete instructions.
