Family K12 School Login Troubleshooting Steps

Check for Known Maintenance

If you are unable to log into the K12 School, check the Announcement area of the Help.K12.com website for a maintenance alert or service disruption. The Announcement area is located on the right hand side of this help site.


Basic Login Troubleshooting Steps

If you are having trouble logging in to the OLS, we recommend the following troubleshooting steps:
 
1. Ensure your CAPS Lock is not on and verify that you are entering your username and password exactly as it was created.

  
2. Ensure you are using a K12 Supported Browser. If you're uncertain, review Recommended Browsers. We recommend Google Chrome.
 
3. Clear your browser cache and cookies, then restart your browser. For more assistance, review Internet Browsers - Clear Cache and Cookies.
 
4. To identify whether the issue is specific to your computer or more widespread, attempt to log into the OLS from a different computer.

Forgot Username/Password

If you've forgotten your username: 

 
1. Go to K12 School (OLS) and click Need help logging in? 
 

 
 
2. Click on Forgot Username? 
 

 
 

 
3. Enter your personal email into the field. Click Send Username. 

Please note: This must be the same personal email saved on file. 

 
 

 
5. Check your personal email for the K12 Username Request message. Your username is listed within the body of the email. 

 
 
 
6. Return to the K12 School (OLS) and enter your updated username and password. You can now log in using your updated credentials. 
 

 
If you've forgotten your password: 

 
1. Go to the K12 School (OLS) and click Need help logging in? 
 

 
 
2. Click on Forgot Password? 
 

 
 
3. Enter your Username and click Send Reset Link. 
 

 

 
4. Check your personal email for the K12 Password Reset Requested message. Click Reset Password to access the Reset Password page. 
 
Please note: The Reset Password link expires after 1 hour. 

 
 
 
5. Review the requirements at the top of the Reset your schoolplatforms password page. After typing a new password click Reset Password. Next, you will see a confirmation message. 

 

 

6. Return to the K12 School (OLS) and enter your username and updated password. You can now log in using your updated credentials. 

Invalid Username and Password

If you recently transferred to a different K12 School or school district within your K12 School, you would need to create a new Learning Coach OLS account.

Please check your email inbox (including your email spam folder) for an email from Registration@K12.com.This email will provide the instructions you need to create a new Learning Coach account.

How to Create a Secure Login

It's important to create a safe and secure login. Here are some suggestions and good practices when creating login information for any platform:

Usernames:

  • Should be 6-50 characters in length.

  • Do not include spaces.

  • Certain special characters are allowed, such as: underscore (_), dash (-), at symbol (@), period (.)

 
Passwords:

  • Never use the same information for your username and password.

  • Should be more than 8 characters in length.

  • When creating your login information, most systems will prompt you for additional password requirements.
