How To Use Snipping Tool

How To Use Snipping Tool

Use the Snipping Tool to Capture Screen Shots

1. To find the Snipping Tool, click the “Start” icon for Windows 7 located in the bottom left of your desktop.

2. Type the key the words “Snipping Tool” into the search window. Your result will appear.

3. Click New to begin a new snipping.

4. Place your cursor to the upper left of the image or graph you wish to snip from the document. Hold your left mouse button down and drag over to the right, then down until the entire image has been selected. See the red outline below to visualize the process.

5. The most common way to use it is to save the snip. It now operates just like any picture. You can drag it into a Word document or PowerPoint presentation. You can email it as an attachment. Windows immediately copies the snip to the clipboard. Because it’s on the clipboard, even before saving the snip, you may also copy/paste the snip into a document.

6. Once you realize how much you will use this little tool, you will likely use it regularly. Pin it to either the Start menu or the Task Bar so that it is close at hand. Right-click on “Snipping Tool” and choose the desired location.
