Welcome to the HVA FLEX Program! 🎓 Our FLEX Plan offers high-performing students the opportunity to meet academic goals and school expectations while enjoying flexibility in how they attend live instructional sessions.

Login to each course 5 days per week and complete one or more assignments.
If students have not logged in by 12pm on a school day, they will receive a notification to remind them that daily login is required for attendance.
Submit all required coursework by the due date on the Student Plan.
All General Education students should be invited as optional to Class Connects. The expectation is that students will watch these sessions on demand and be able to master course standards independently. *Special Education students should always be required for live instructional sessions where Special Education services will be provided. Students in an EOC Class may be required to attend class at teacher's discretion.
Maintain a passing grade in all courses.
Flex students will be required to attend live sessions to complete benchmark or diagnostic tests. Teachers will work with students to schedule these times. Flex students must attend Face-to-Face required state testing. All testing dates will be found on the homepage of the FLEX classroom.
On benchmark or diagnostic assessments (MAP, USATP, etc.), students must maintain proficiency level or show growth from the previous assessment. A drop in proficiency is a strong indicator that students may need additional live instructional support.
Respond to emails or school outreach within 24 hours.
Immediately communicate needs with Flex Facilitator, Teachers, Success Coaches, or Homeroom Teachers.
Attend After-Hour Help and/or Check-In Sessions as needed or required by Success Coach or Flex Facilitator.
Attend all Special Education live sessions to ensure student services will be met according to the student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
Attend all EOC Course Classes as required by the teacher.
Prior to acceptance to the program, a comprehensive review is held with approvals needed for certain circumstances to ensure the student will be successful in the FLEX Program by the FLEX Facilitator and School Principal.
Monitor student progress and on-time completion of assignments. Failure to submit assignments on time could result in removal from the program.
Respond to emails or school outreach in a timely manner.
Monitor daily student login to meet state attendance requirements.
Acknowledge the student must attend all Special Education live sessions to ensure student services will be met according to the student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
Acknowledge the student must attend all EOC Course Classes as required by the teacher.

Structure courses to allow Flex students the opportunity to work through video lessons, curriculum, and assignments on demand.

Return all phone calls and emails to student or LC within 24 hours
Grade assignments within three school days.
Collaborate with the Flex Facilitator and/or student's success coach on student progress and success in the course.
Refer students to appropriate success Coach if interest or need in the Flex Program arises.
Monitor student caseload for Flex Program need/interest.
Communicate Flex program details and process with students who may benefit from the program.
Share Flex Program Enrollment Survey with the student or LC.
Schedule After Hours support for Flex students.
Monitor student progress and success weekly. Hold support meetings with Flex students according to the monitoring process below.
When notified by counselor that student is fully approved for Flex Program, tag student as “Flex” in TVA.
Notify administration if a student is recommended for withdrawal review or is not meeting the criteria of the Flex Program.
Review and monitor each student’s schedule and graduation progress as a Flex student.
After admin approval, conference with student to discuss program requirements and document Learning Coach/Student agreement in Enrollment Spreadsheet.
If student is requesting Flex because of a work responsibility, contact Work-Based Learning Coordinator for further outreach.
Post-conference, notify teachers, success coach, CTE team, and administration that the student has been approved for Flex schedule and submitted documentation in TVS.
Add them to Flex Classroom in TVS.
If working-
review IGP career goal to check for pathway alignment. Work with counselor to adjust if necessary.
Notify CRE Coordinator of any working FLEX Student to determine if student should be enrolled in WBL course with the goal of completing a WBL experience. If possible, enroll student in CAR100 Career Internship 1 and facilitate completion of the 120 hour experience.
facilitate workplace evaluation with student’s supervisor. (HIGH SCHOOL ONLY)
Upon submission of the Flex Program Enrollment Survey, review student requests, records, etc. to determine if students will be a good fit for the program.
Determine approval status of Flex Program requests.
If approved, notify counselor of approval into the program. If not approved, notify student and Learning Coach with reason for being denied. Save as note in TVS.
Students will be required to apply for the Flex Program on an annual basis.
The Flex Facilitator, Teachers and Success Coaches will monitor and collaborate on students’ academic progress and compliance with the Flex Program guidelines.
Success Coaches will track all Flex students weekly; regardless of placement in the GO Box and work with students in After Hours support as needed to maintain compliance with the program.
If a student is recommended for administrative withdrawal review, they will be removed from the Flex Program and will be considered ineligible for the remainder of the school year.
If a student is removed from the Flex Program due to non-compliance with any of the Flex Program’s guidelines, the student will be ineligible for Flex throughout the remainder of the school year.
When a student is flagged as non-compliant with Flex Program guidelines, the student’s team will follow the guidelines below. The goal is to encourage students to remain in Flex, if at all possible.
Removal from Flex Program: Upon weekly review, students who are not meeting the Flex Program guidelines or are on probation, as outlined in the HVA Handbook, for 3 weeks without resolution (without earning 3 badges) will be removed from the Flex program and ineligible to participate in the program again for the remainder of the school year. Additionally, students unresponsive to all contact attempts by their Success Coach after two (2) weeks will be recommended for removal from the Flex Program and ineligible to participate in the program again for one school year.
